God’s Many-Splendored Image

Book Reviews, Church Fathers

I have been doing some research into the idea of the image of God for my interest in Disability Theology. One of the books that I read was God’s Many-Splendored Image by Nonna Verna Harrison.

God's Many-Splendored Image

Many scholars who look at this topic come from a biblical or a philosophical perspective. Harrison, who is a patristic scholar, comes at it from the perspective of the church fathers.

While many people seek to find one meaning to the image of God, Harrison demonstrates that the church fathers had many different views of this image. These are not contradictory but complementary ways to look at the image of God.

I found this book interesting, not just for my own theological inquiry, but for the glimpse it gives us have numerous church fathers came at one particular topic.
