An important part of Christian history has been the role of clergy in supporting the military in terms of both spiritual and emotional needs. I recently had the opportunity to speak with Patricia Cecil, Specialist Curator Faith, Religion, and WWI at the National World War I Museum and Memorial.
They currently have an exhibit called Sacred Service, which highlights the experience of American chaplains (Christian and non-Christian) during the First World War. This is an aspect of our history that many people within the church are unaware. I would encourage you to check out the exhibit and even consider the online options.
